Dental Cone-Beam CT
We are pleased to utilize dental cone-beam computing tomography (CT) technology at Wurtzel Family Dentistry. Dental cone-beam CT technology allows us to reconstruct a 3D image of the teeth, mouth, jaw, neck, ears, nose, and throat. By helping our dentists to view the head and neck as a comprehensive whole, dental cone-beam CT technology aids us in analyzing your oral health and evaluating dental conditions. We can use dental cone-beam CT technology to:
- Plan dental implants
- Evaluate the jaws and face
- Assess a cleft palate
- Diagnose dental cavities
- Evaluate dental trauma
- Visualize abnormal teeth and oral development
- Diagnose endodontic conditions
Dental cone-beam CT technology can aid our dentists in diagnosis, treatment planning, and the evaluation of certain dental conditions by providing three-dimensional images to supplement two-dimensional X-rays. We welcome you to contact our dental office in Ann Arbor, Michigan today to learn more about the benefits of dental cone-beam CT technology!
CEREC Same-Day Dentistry
In a typical dental practice, receiving dental crowns can be a long and often uncomfortable process that can take several weeks to complete. However, our dental office is equipped with CEREC technology, which enables us to scan, design, and mill beautiful restoration crowns right here! Imagine coming into our dental office to receive a crown and walking out the same day with a strong, durable, and aesthetically-pleasing crown already in place. Single-visit dentistry is now a reality thanks to CEREC!
The process begins with taking a digital scan of your teeth. The data from the scan is then sent to our in-office milling machine that creates your crown during your appointment fast. Major benefits of the CEREC technology include:
- No molds or impressions
- Fast camera scans
- No temporary crowns
- Same-day treatment
If you have any questions about how same-day dentistry can benefit you, or to learn more about CEREC technology, please feel free to give us a call. Our knowledgeable dental team is always ready to answer your questions.
Digital X-rays
At Dr. Wurtzel’s dental office, we use the latest dental X-ray technology: digital radiography. Digital radiography uses an electronic sensor that will immediately capture and store digital images of your teeth.
Taking digital X-rays is faster than the process of taking X-ray film, and it reduces your exposure to radiation significantly. Because the digital images taken by the machine can be viewed instantly, our dental team will be able to detect any developing dental problems more efficiently than ever before.
Your need and frequency for digital X-rays will be based on your age, your dental history, a dental exam, your medical history, symptoms and signs, and your risk of disease. Although complete X-rays of your entire mouth should be taken at least once or twice a year, new X-rays may be required if any unexpected dental problems arise.
It is important to have dental X-rays taken of your teeth to prevent discomfort, pain, and permanent damage to your mouth. Even though digital radiography is much safer than traditional X-ray film, we still take all of the necessary precautions to help prevent unnecessary radiation exposure. Your health and safety are our highest priority.
If you are experiencing any difficulties with your mouth, jaw, or teeth, please call our office to arrange an appointment with one of our dentists immediately.
Intraoral Cameras
Using the intraoral camera, both patient and dentist have the ability to see the best way to improve your dental health. The intraoral camera is about the size of a pen and using the tiny camera, our dentists will examine your mouth for any irregularities or problems. Because of its size, the camera can effectively “see” and take pictures of the hard to reach areas in the back of the mouth. The images taken by the camera are transferred almost immediately to your patient file, where you and our dental team can review them and plan the right course of action to restore your oral health.
The intraoral camera allows us to monitor the effectiveness of our treatments and improve our ability to serve you. It also allows us to show documented information to other dentists, doctors, or insurances agencies as needed for your benefit. For more information about the intraoral camera, please contact Dr. Wurtzel’s office today!
